“I’d rather have a burger and fries,” Dean said.

“These are good for you. Try them.” Sammy put the skewers on the hot grill. They sizzled as the olive oil dripped into the fire.

“Why worry about my health all of a sudden?”

“I’m your brother. Can’t I worry?”

Dean looked closely at the veggies as if they might be something rotten and foul.

“Nope. It’s not like you to worry. What gives?”

“Cas read an article and he’s worried.”

Dean turned away so Sam couldn’t see the pleased smile on his face. “Okay, I’ll try them, just this once.”

NO REDEMPTION

He watched them cavorting in the sea, the sons of Elwing. They looked so young, so innocent, splashing around in the waves. He rubbed a scarred hand over his face. They had seen things no one should see, had borne pain too heavy for their small shoulders and it was his fault.

He wanted to call out to them, to beg their forgiveness, to tell them he loved them and had since the beginning. He wanted to go back home, to unswear that damnable oath he’d made so long ago.

But there was no redemption for him. None at all.
