MISSING YOU

Every single time I pass one of those red phone boxes, I think to myself that I will call you this time, that enough time has passed and that we should be able to be friends by now.

I tell myself that.

I never meant for things to happen like they did. The thing with Orlando wasn’t real. It was just a fling, a one night stand. Okay a five or ten night stand but still, it was nothing. What we had was real. And I miss it.

I wish that calling you would make it right.

But nothing will.

THE MAN WITH THE UMBRELLA

John was in the phone booth, calling Scotland Yard yet again when he saw him go by, hurrying along in the rain with an umbrella almost obscuring his face. Almost but not quite.

He threw open the phone box door to call out but by the time he stepped out into the downpour, the man with umbrella was gone.

Sherlock was gone.

Had it been his friend, the man who meant more to him than anyone he’d known, even family? Were they all right? Was Sherlock dead? Had he been crazy in the end?

Nothing really mattered; Sherlock was gone.
