A FISHY WISH

“What do you want for Christmas, Private?” Skipper asked.

“I want a rainbow colored unicorn!”

“Of course you do,” Skipper said as he turned to Rico. “And you?”

Rico said something unintelligible; Kowalski translating, “He wants a new wife. Malibu Barbie is pretty. Or twenty pounds of C4. It’s pretty too. And I want some new scientific stuff. A Geiger counter. A nuclear reactor as well if you can find one.”

“What do you want, Skipper” Private asked.

“I wish that the whole world could live in peace through the year. Or maybe twenty-five pounds of fish. That would work.”

PRIVATES Easter vigil

Private couldn’t sleep. He was waiting for the Eater Bunny to come and when the large rabbit never showed up, he slipped out of his bunk and went uptop to wait. The night was chilly even though it was spring so he took his pillow and blanket with him.. He sat down to wait and promptly fell asleep.

Skipper had been waiting too… waiting for Private to fall asleep. As soon as he did left, Skipper slipped on the bunny costume that Kowalski had made him and grabbed the basket he had hidden in his locker.

He added a few fishie treats and a chocolate herring to the basket and stood back to admire his handiwork. Perfect!

He went up to find Private was snoring away.

Skipper threw down some white chalky substance and hopped around in it a bit with his bunny shoes. He used his phone to make a quick photo of himself and Private then he left the basket and ran back down to their quarters and removed his costume and hopped into bed and fell asleep.

Skipper acted very surprised the next morning when Private woke him.

“Look! I got an Easter basket –what?” They were all staring at Skipper. “Skipper, when did you grow bunny ears?”

He’d forgotten to take his ears off when he went to bed!

“The Easter Bunny must have brought them! That’s right! The Easter Bunny brought them!”
