Always Busy

Owen had hoped that after the disaster at Jurassic World that he and Claire might become an item, but she always seemed to find something else to do.

Something like working on lists of the surviving dinosaurs, lists of how much food was available and how long it would last, lists of supplies needed. The lists went on and on. She was the busiest person he’d ever seen. He only seemed to see her in passing, like ships, one hurrying through the night.

Oh hell, she was doing a great job! She was ahead of all the small problems that cropped up every day and she was well on the way to having the place ready to open back up in a few months. She’d probably get an even bigger promotion than the one she had.

Well, when was done with all that. He’d be ready.

He wasn’t going anywhere.

My Best Girl

Owen patted Blue’s cheek while she was in her feeding harness. He clicked his little clicker to let her know he was happy with her. She seemed to understand this.

“You know, we have some new baby raptors. They’re small but already hunting game.”

She made a sound. Again she approved.

He continued. “Maybe someday you’ll have a place to roam free on the island. Like they do now.”

She made her own clicking sound, a gentle one as to assure him that everything would be all right.

He patted her head. “You’re my best girl, Blue. My best girl!”

Part Twenty-four
The Right Thing


Deep in the interior of the island, InGen had secretly installed a camera to monitor what looked like a cave. Scattered about were several highly trained security men who blended into the jungle around them.

Inside the cave were a set of reinforced steel doors with all sorts of alarms attached to them as well.

Inside the doors was Henry Wu. No one knew where he was. The cave had been designed to go undetected but very protectable. Inside his lab were the samples and eggs of dinosaurs that had not yet been made, including a smaller t-rex built to fight in human warfare.

He didn’t know what to do with all the eggs and embryos. All his supervisors were dead. The smart thing to do would be to turn off the incubators and let them die.

That would be the right thing too.

If only he could do it.

Part Twenty-five
Ready to Go


Opening day was just a week away! The park was looking good. All the damage was cleaned up and the dead animals had been disposed of. Staff had been hired and trained. The dinos were a little sparser than before but they were all growing and doing nicely.

Jurassic World was more zoo and less sideshow now. The emphasis was on the past and what part dinosaurs had played rather than their future. There was no mention of newer and bigger killing machines at this new Jurassic World.

They were ready, ready for anything.

Claire was keeping her fingers crossed.
