Type: Gen
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I do not own nor do I profit from the use of these characters.
Warnings: None
Beta: None
Characters: Watson, Holmes
Archive: OEAM, Ao3, Alex’s Story Book
Author’s Note: This is close to canon. I have seen the argument that Holmes is really Moriarty in more than one place.
Spoilers: Not really.
Summary: Is he Moriarty?
~~~
WHO IS HE?
Have I ever actually seen Moriarty? No, to tell you the truth, I cannot say that I have seen him face to face. Holmes pointed him out to me at the Train Station once but that was it. Several people, even Mycroft, asked me was I sure that he wasn’t something that Holmes made up. The truth is I am not sure.
But I know just the same.
Holmes is not a man who does things simply because they are right. He is more complex than that. Lestrade does things because they are right. Holmes does them because they amuse him as well as make things even. While he is not particularly moralistic, he does seem to want to help those who no one else can or will help. The poor man who everyone thinks is guilty, the person who flies in the face of convention, the woman who might seem ungrateful for a lunatic master.
Is he the Napoleon of crime? Would he do all the horrible things that Moriarty had his hand in? Could he?
Of course he could. He is by far the most intelligent man I know.
Would he?
You have read my accounts of his cases and his person. You tell me.
